B2B Website Design Services: What Separates a Good B2B Site From a Brochure

Good b2b websites are the ones a buyer can use without a tour. The buyer already has a part, a quantity, or a site address. The page either lets them ask about that object, or it offers a film about the company and hopes they will stay.

B2B website design services are the work of building the first kind. A brochure with a menu is the second kind, and it photographs well.

Layout, the first screen, and how many fields fit on a thumb are already set out on the B2B page-design note. This page is the buying question that comes before a comp: what the service has to deliver, and what a handsome example is allowed to prove.

A brochure cannot name the object

A brochure says the company is established, shows a building, and ends with a phone number. That can be enough for a referral who was going to call anyway. It is a poor answer to a stranger who searched a specification. The stranger needs the material, the range, the lead time you are willing to publish, and a way to send the drawing they already have.

Industry pages make this concrete. A construction buyer, an HVAC buyer, and a clinic are not the same brief, and the differences are written on the industry site note. A manufacturer buyer starts from the part, not from a brand film.

That pattern is on the manufacturer page. A design service that uses one homepage for all three has not started the job. It has started a template.

What the example galleries are

Search best b2b landing page examples and you get agency portfolios. The screenshots are selected because they are legible at thumbnail size. They are not selected because a buyer finished an enquiry.

Treat them as a mood board. Then ask a ruder question of each one. Can you tell what the company sells without scrolling.

Can you send a message about one product from that product’s URL. If the answer is no, the example is a poster.

Steal the hierarchy if it is clear. Do not steal the claim in the hero unless you can put the same fact on your own page. A line about “trusted worldwide” with no number beside it is decoration.

A line with a published range, a published lead time, or a published tolerance is a specification. Buyers came for the second.

Name the objects in the proposal

A proposal for this work should list URLs and jobs, not adjectives. Which templates. Who writes the specification block.

What the heaviest image on a product page is allowed to weigh. How a stranger sends one real message, and which mailbox receives it. Who holds the admin login on the day after launch.

If those lines are missing, the document is a brochure about the service. The checks for choosing a company, including what a portfolio number is allowed to mean, are on the page about choosing a WordPress design company. Use them before the deposit.

This page will not repeat the eight checks. It only insists the proposal can be compared with the finished site, line by line.

Handover is part of the design. A site the client’s staff cannot edit is a site that freezes on the day the designer moves on. Say, in the proposal, which screens a non-developer is expected to change. A hero they cannot touch is a poster you will be paid to update forever.

Landing page optimization you can count

Landing page optimization is a change with a before and an after. It is not a new slogan on the same layout. The before and after that are worth paying for are narrow.

The form accepts a message and a person receives it. The first image is small enough that the page can meet a published speed target. The words in the first screen match the query that bought the click.

Google’s targets for the speed half are public. LCP within 2.5 seconds, INP of 200 milliseconds or less, CLS of 0.1 or less, read at the 75th percentile. The page is Web Vitals on web.dev.

A redesign that never mentions those three numbers has not talked about speed. It has talked about taste.

The form half is uglier, and it is where pretty sites fail. A contact form can sit on a finished design and send nothing. On one site the form was silently broken for 12 days.

207 paid clicks landed on it. The cause was a reCAPTCHA site key registered on a different domain. The server, the theme, and the copy were all capable of looking done.

The full account is on the invalid-domain site key page. The design lesson is shorter. A launch review that does not include one message sent by someone who is not the developer has not reviewed the page.

It has reviewed a picture of the page.

A machine reads the page as well

In September 2026 we ran 500 Chinese B2B queries in a clean check. 80.9 percent of them returned an AI Overview. Separately, 72 questions were put to an assistant.

The answers named 18 companies. Our own site was cited 3 times, each time as a source for a checklist about how to choose a supplier, and not as the supplier being recommended.

That is a useful humiliation. Good b2b websites, in that test, were pages a model could quote for a specific question. They were not pages that had asked to be recommended.

Write the answer to the question a buyer actually has, in words, on the URL that matches. A hero video will not be the sentence that gets quoted.

Do not turn that into a promise about traffic. Google’s hiring guidance says no one can guarantee a number-one ranking, and it says to distrust a special relationship with Google. The text is Do you need an SEO?

A design that makes the offer legible is the job. The position is not a deliverable.

The first version is one offer, not a grid of cities

A new B2B site often has one real offer and a hope that a stack of city pages will look like coverage. They won’t. The buyer who needs a quote does not need a page per city with the same paragraph and a swapped name.

That pattern is how a design project manufactures doorway URLs. Ship the offer. Add a second URL when a second offer is real, not when the sitemap looks thin.

The single page still has to answer a short list, in words a person can copy. What you make. What you will not make.

Where you ship. How someone sends a drawing or a specification. How long until a human replies, if you are willing to publish that.

If any line is “it depends” with no boundary, the page is still a brochure. The boundary can be narrow. “Drawings as PDF, up to the size your mail host accepts” is a boundary.

“World-class solutions” is not.

Two languages means two URLs

If the buyers read two languages, Google’s multi-regional guidance asks for a separate URL per language, not a cookie that swaps the words. It also says the language is judged from the visible page, not from the lang attribute and not from the domain alone. A design that hides the English inside a toggle, and leaves the HTML in one language, is a design the crawler can miss. The note is managing multi-regional and multilingual sites.

Put the language switch on the page as a link a person can click. Don’t auto-redirect them from a guess about their IP. Google says not to adapt the content that way, because the crawler will not tour your variants from every country. A design service that delivers the toggle and calls it bilingual has delivered a widget.

Photographs are evidence

A stock handshake and a drone shot of a park do not answer a buyer. A photograph of the part, the line, or the packing you actually ship does. It can be an ordinary phone photo if the object is identifiable. The design job is to make that photo the first thing on the product URL, at a file size that can still meet the speed targets above.

Ask the service who crops and compresses. If the answer is “the client sends print-ready files”, you have just assigned yourself a job you may not do. Put the compression in the scope, with a maximum weight per image written as a number you both accept. Otherwise the launch inherits whatever the camera saved.

The meeting that replaces a mood board

Give the designer three real enquiries with the names removed. Not personas. The last three messages a salesperson answered, including the ones that were a bad fit.

The page should make the bad fit obvious, so the next bad fit does not arrive. A homepage that invites everyone invites the wrong half of the inbox.

Then make them point at the URL where each of those three messages would have started. If all three start on the homepage because there is nowhere else, the homepage is doing too many jobs, or the catalogue is still a slide. Either fact should change the sitemap before anyone opens a font menu.

Tianwen Network’s three own sites are content and service sites, not a factory catalogue. We will not pretend a factory photo from a client belongs on this page. The test above does not need one. It needs your last three emails.

The week someone calls it finished

Finished means a stranger can do the thing the page offered. Send one enquiry from a phone, logged out, to a mailbox that is not the designer’s. Open the message.

Confirm it names the product URL you started from. If it doesn’t, the page is not finished, however many visual rounds you have already paid for.

Then open the same URL in a browser that has never seen the site and read only the first screen. You should be able to say what is sold. If you need the designer’s narration to understand it, the narration will not be there for the buyer.

Cut the screen until the sentence stands alone. A second round of decoration is how the first screen gets heavy again.

Keep a note of what you refused. No guaranteed ranking. No invented enquiry counts.

No city grid. That note is the scope. When a later request asks for the grid “because competitors have one”, you already decided why it is not in the sitemap.

The competitors’ grid is not evidence that the grid works. It is evidence that the pattern is easy to copy.

What does not belong in the mockup

City pages that repeat one paragraph with the city name swapped. A blog created so the footer looks active. A chat widget that nobody will answer after Friday.

These are the brochure habits that survive a redesign because they were never questioned. Google’s spam policies describe doorway pages and scaled pages that exist to catch a query rather than to help. If a proposed sitemap is a grid of near-copies, stop before the visual design.

The grid is the defect.

Tianwen Network was founded in 2017 and keeps 30 to 40 export sites. The pattern on those sites is dull on purpose. A page per real offer.

A form that can be completed. A number only where we measured it. Liu Yu reviews the scope against that pattern, not against a mood board.

Questions before you buy a B2B design

What has to be in the proposal?

URLs and jobs. Which templates, who writes the specification, the maximum weight of a product image, how a stranger sends one real message, and who holds the admin login the day after launch.

Do landing-page example galleries prove a site gets enquiries?

No. They are selected because they are legible as thumbnails. Ask whether a buyer can tell what is sold, and whether they can write about one product from that product’s URL.

Can the design guarantee rankings or a number of enquiries?

No. Google says no one can guarantee a number-one ranking. In a September 2026 check, 80.9 percent of 500 Chinese B2B queries returned an AI Overview. Being cited is not the same as being recommended.

How do I start a scope conversation?

WhatsApp wa.me/8613526816415. Send the product and the country you sell to. A homepage comp is not the first thing needed.
